RIM enhanced its position in worldwide cellular market

The International Data Corp. (IDC), a market intelligence firm has recently reveals the result on quarterly statistics worldwide for the cellular market. The report says Nokia is leading the industry in terms of sell, followed by Samsung and LG. However the number four position has been obtained by RIM for the very first time. This must have had brought delight to all the RIM fans as it has acquired the fourth position brushing aside Sony Ericsson. It has managed with to sell 10.6 million BlackBerry units in the first quarter of 2010 – a figure is more than the total number of cellular phones sold by Sony Ericsson and Motorola.

With this encouraging sales report now RIM is planning to launch BlackBerry 6 OS by the end of the year. The revenue for the telecom industry has increased to 21.7 percent in the first quarter of 2010. With Nokia leads the trail with 107.8 million phones, Samsung finishing second 64.3 million units sold, and LG takes the third place with 27.1 million handsets shipped.

Microsoft Communicator Mobile is coming soon

Nokia and Microsoft are jointly bringing a new Communicator Mobile. The latest application will connect the client directly with the communication systems of a specific company. Communicator Mobile from Microsoft is an interesting invention. If your friends are online and the facilities like text, email and IM will enable you to contact with them. The application also facilitates the users to update themselves.

“Our alliance with Nokia aims to bring the Office productivity experience to the millions of people using Nokia smartphones around the world. With the arrival of Communicator Mobile for Nokia today, we have a great start to fulfilling our joint vision,” said Kirt Debique, General Manager at Microsoft. It is the first product launched by the alliance from Nokia and Microsoft that was designed in 2009. There are already two pioneering E-Series devices, E-52, E-72 for Nokia by the alliance company. Communicator Mobile will help Nokia in optimizing direct access to personal information and e-mail with the help of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

Nokia X2 – Latest handset of X series for Rs.5000.

Nokia has made a new addition to its X series of Mobile phones with the introduction of Nokia X2. This mid range handset is considered to be an entry level music phone which is loaded with decent features. This latest mobile phone has monoblock body with physical measurements of 111 X 47 X13.3 mm and weighs only 82 grams. There is 2.2 inches of QVGA display in the handset that offers resolution count of 320 X 240 pixels and supports 26K colors.

The embedded memory of the phone is 48MB but it can be increased up to 16GB with the help of MicroSD card. To offer great experience to all the music lovers X2 is loaded with features like FM tuner, music player supporting multiple formats like AAC, eAAC, eAAC+ and WMA, stereo speakers, 26 hours of music playback time, 3.5mm headset jack and others.

Other impressive features of this latest mobile phone include 5MP camera with LED flash and digital zoom, Bluetooth 2.1, USB, access to Facebook status, applications from Ovi Store, new S40 OS and others. Nokia X2 will be available in India very soon with an approximate price tag of Rs.5000.

Nokia E5 – Cheapest E Series handset for Rs.10,000

Its 2.4 inches of TFT screen that offers resolution count of 320 X 240 pixels and provides support to 256K colors. The screen of the phone also supports Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat.

C3 is a mobile phone which offers social networking tools and better messaging in hands as it offers direct access to various social networking sites. Nokia Q1 financial results are out

Nokia recently announced their financial results for the first quarter of 2010. The report the revenue and profit of Nokia has become higher than last year’s and they’re manufacturing 50% more smartphones than the same period in 2009.

But at the same time the release of Symbian ^3 OS will be delayed for the second half of the year, which may disappoint man Nokia users who were looking forward to it. But back to the financial results, Nokia earned revenue of 9.52 billion euro, which is 3% higher than the revenue of first quarter in 2009. The operating profit reached 488 million euro, which is quite a big achievement compared again to the 55 million from the Q1 in the last year. Nokia smartphone sales have also increased twice, but the average price for a smartphone device has gone down with 35 euro to 155 euro. In spite of that, Nokia sold 16% more handsets than the first quarter last year.

Nokia announces X5 TD-SCDMA S60 smartphone for younger generation

Yesterday on 23rd April,2010 Nokia has announced the new X5 TD-SCDMA S60 3rd edition powered smart phone in China. The X5 comes with a slim look which measures 4.44in x 1.95in x .57inches. It has got an alphanumeric keyboard with a 2.4 inch QVGA screen that displays 320 x 240 pixel resolution. In the back side of the handset a 5 megapixel digital camera is attached. You can take nice pictures as well as record videos at 30 frames per second.

The X5 is also equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR connectivity. A GPS receiver is connected with this cellphone with support for a GPS. It comes with a music player for the younger people; this is a perfect musical device features dedicated music keys and quick access to CMCC music. It will be available in black, white, and red encasing. Pricing has not yet been declared. This wonderful handset of Nokia will be launched in China.

Nokia to launch its 2 new phone series

In order to expand its handset market in India Nokia is all set to unveil its 2 new phone series Nokia X and Nokia C within this quarter. The news was declared by Chandan Dang, the Regional General Manager of Nokia India.

Further details were not disclosed by Dang but he stated that these latest series will include mid and high end mobile phones and will be priced from Rs.5000 onwards.

Currently Nokia is selling their handset under 2 series called Nokia E and Nokia N. The E series from Nokia is targeted at professional people whereas the N series is aimed at high end customers.

Along with its 2 new series Nokia is also planning to launch its new handsets which will be equipped with Linux based Maemo software in the next 2 to 3 months. These new handsets will be high performance mobile computers with the processors.

Four new handsets for entry level consumers are also launched by the company which includes Nokia 2690, Nokia 1800, Nokia 1616 and Nokia 1280. These entry level handsets will be available in the price range of Rs.1200 and Rs.2479.
