RIM enhanced its position in worldwide cellular market

The International Data Corp. (IDC), a market intelligence firm has recently reveals the result on quarterly statistics worldwide for the cellular market. The report says Nokia is leading the industry in terms of sell, followed by Samsung and LG. However the number four position has been obtained by RIM for the very first time. This must have had brought delight to all the RIM fans as it has acquired the fourth position brushing aside Sony Ericsson. It has managed with to sell 10.6 million BlackBerry units in the first quarter of 2010 – a figure is more than the total number of cellular phones sold by Sony Ericsson and Motorola.
With this encouraging sales report now RIM is planning to launch BlackBerry 6 OS by the end of the year. The revenue for the telecom industry has increased to 21.7 percent in the first quarter of 2010. With Nokia leads the trail with 107.8 million phones, Samsung finishing second 64.3 million units sold, and LG takes the third place with 27.1 million handsets shipped.
