The details of new Motorola Kobe are out

The details of the latest Android handset by Motorola called MB520 Kobe has been leaked and this mobile phone will be soon launched at AT&T. This latest handset with slate form factor will run on Android 2.1 OS and will have a Droid 2/x style Motoblur UI. The handset will be powered by 8—MHz OMAP Processor.

There is 3.5 inches of LCD display in the phone that will offer resolution count of 480 X 854 pixels.  Other features which are expected to come packed in Kobe include 512 MB of RAM, 2GB of internal storage along with 2GB of microSD card, 3MP of camera without flash, support to Swype, Vlingo and DLNA.

Some of the applications which are expected to come with this latest handset include Quadrant and Linpack among which the Linpack will be clocked at 6.319 MFLOPS. Further information regarding the detailed features and availability of the handset is not yet known.

Motorola launches its 2 new handsets called Rambler and Bali through Boost Mobile

Motorola is all set to launch its 2 new handsets called Rambler and Bali. These latest mobile phones will be available through Boost Mobile which is a wireless carrier company.

Motorola Rambler and Bali comes with impressive design and has a flip form factor.

Rambler comes with full QWERTY keyboard which is easy to use and thus proves to be very helpful for all the users who wants to text mails and messages frequently. Other features of Rambler include 1.3 MP camera with video recording facility, GPS receiver, stereo Bluetooth, IM, email access, voice recognition and others.

The other model launched by Motorola is Bali which is a stylish looking handset with variety of impressive features like 1.3 MP camera with video recording, MP3 Music player with external touch controls, Bluetooth, GPS, expandable memory and others.

Both these latest mobile phones will be available for sale from 11th of August this year.

Huawei and Lemko Corp sued by Motorola

Motorola Inc has recently sued the former employees of Lemko Corp and Huawei Technologies for making the conspiracy to steal the trade secrets of the company.

Motorola alleged that Huawei was engaged in a multi year plot so as to steal its trade secrets. The court filing which was made by Motorola claimed that over the past 10 years Huawei has worked with more than dozen employees of Motorola in order to make an attempt to steal the confidential information related to the network infrastructure equipment of Motorola.

It was also claimed by Motorola that there were many strings of emails which were tagged as “Motorola Confidential Proprietary” and were received by the Huawei which shows that Huawei were getting confidential information and the trade secrets of Motorola without their consent and authorization.

It was stated by Huawei that the lawsuit did not had any grounds and they also stated thats “Huawei has no relationship with Lemko, other than a reseller agreement. Huawei will vigorously defend itself against baseless allegations.”

Motorola to rename its business

Motorola has recently unveiled its plan to rename its business following the separation of its devices and the set top box units into a wholly owned subsidiary which will take place during the 1st quarter of 2011.

The Mobile Devices and Home Businesses of the company will be known as Motorola Mobility and it will be headed by the co- CEO of Motorola, Sanjay Jha.

Sanjay Jha recently stated that “Mobile Devices has made significant progress in 2010, and we are confident that the separation is the right strategy for Motorola, our stockholders, our customers, our partners and our employees.”

Due to the functional separation of the Motorola handset unit the Moto’s other co-CEO, Greg Brown will be in charge of the Enterprise Mobility and Networks divisions which will renamed as Motorola Solutions. It is being expected by Motorola to separate into 2 companies during the 1st quarter of the year 2011. The completion of the separation plan is subject to the approval by its board of directors and IRS.

T-Mobile to launch latest Motorola Charm

Motorola Charm is the upcoming handset which is expected to hit the T-Mobile USA stores very soon. The most distich feature of this handset is its hardware design which is in the brick candy bar style with full QWERTY keyboard under the screen. The layout of the phone is very much similar to some of the popular Blackberry models.

Motorola is known as one of the most prolific hardware supporters of Android and this latest handset Charm will also fully support Android 2.1.

With the new Motoblur in the handset, users will be able to change the size of the widgets on the home screen and the widgets of the Facebook and Twitter will get an upgraded functionality as well. Moreover the there will be 7 different home screens in the phone to cycle through.

The textured QWERTY keyboard on the phone seems to be better than the typical Motorola fare and thus the phone can prove to be a great messaging device. Éclair benefits and camera will prove to be an added advantage. The details regarding the other features and price is yet unavailable.

Application Store to be launched by CanvasM in next quarter

CanvasM which is a Noida based mobile value added services (VAS) company and which is a joint venture between Motorola and Tech Mahindra has recently stated that they will launch their application store in the next quarter of this year which is from July to September.

The Chief executive Officer of CanvasM, Jagdish Mitra stated that “The application store will be a white label service and will work across operators and handsets. For the app store, we will be functioning like a mall. A person who wants to market his product can use the mall. We will not be involved in the marketing and branding of the apps store. We will provide the platform but we are not going to take the responsibility to sell the product to the end customer.” A white label service is offered by one company and is marketed by other under their branding.

Presently CanvasM is focusing on 2 segments. It offers enterprise solutions like managed services and system integration along with customer related services like mobile advertisement and mobile commerce. Regarding the app store Mitra stated that they have been looking for this business since last one and half years and they are pioneers in this and thinking of launching bundle of around 30,000 applications.

Droid X appears after the launch of iPhone 4

Motorola has recently announced the latest addition to its Droid range of mobile phones with Droid X. This forthcoming device will have 4.3 inches of high resolution screen that will offer excellent image viewing experience. There is 8 MP dual flash camera in the phone which is capable of capturing all your memorable moments in form of high quality images.

Other impressive features of the device include HD Camcorder, DLMA and HDMI connectivity, 1GHz processor and others. The users of Droid X will get an option to upgrade to Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 with an over the air update.

This latest device will have a price tag of $199.99 after $100 mail in rebate with 2 years of customer agreement and the option to add the 3G mobile Hotspot service for $20 a month. This service will allow the customers to turn their handset into a wireless modem for up to 5 compatible Wi-Fi devices.

The Handset unit of Motorola to have billions of dollars

According to the latest reports, Motorola will pour in billions of dollars into its unit of mobile phone, once it spun off into a public company. It is being intended by the company to buy back majority of its $3.9 billion debt and allocate the remaining cash between $3 – $4 billion in the spun off unit.

The latest firm which is named, Motorola Mobility will comprise of the firm’s set top box and handset business and the remaining business assets will be bundled under the name Motorola Solutions.

The step is been taken by the company to leave two smaller companies with clear balance sheets which are capable of making acquisitions or attracting the acquisition attention on their own.

The increasing pressure of the shareholders has forced Motorola to separate its ailing handset business from other operations for the last 2 years, after the action was called by activist investor Carl Icahn.
