The Department of Telecom has just reported that the Idea cellular services are looking forward to give solution to the BlackBerry of how they could secure their internet services. The Idea Cellular of Aditya Birla is the only one mobile phone company who took up the lead in finding out the solution for the prevention of the misuse of BlackBerry internet service (BIS). As per the official report of the Department of Telecom said that the Idea cellular solution was based on the encryption which is a user friendly which could be easily acknowledge by the customers.

India gets manual access to the Blackberry Messenger

The top most ministry official of India has recently stated that the government of the country has got the manual access of the chat communication on the services of Blackberry. The Government expects that they will be able to get the automated access from 1st of January 2011.

Earlier the Blackberry makers, Research in Motion was asked to provide access to the data of the services for the security reasons and were threatened to face the ban if they fail to provide the access.  At the end of the August this year, RIM got 60 days of time, so as to provide solution for monitoring the services of the Blackberry by the security agencies of the country.

At present, manual printouts of the chat messages are provided to the security agencies of the country within 4 to 5 hours after placing the requirements. After the automated access is provided the chat messages can be tracked on the real time basis.

Blackberry threatened for ban by Indonesia over porn content

It seems to be a tough time for the Blackberry makers, Research in Motion as now the company has been threatened by Indonesia for the ban of its services if they refuse to block the porn content.

The Communication and Information Minister of Indonesia, Tifatul Sembiring recently stated that they have made a request to the RIM so as to block the adult content for the services in the country, failing to which the services of Blackberry will be banned in Indonesia.

As per the minister they have asked Research In Motion to put ban on the pornographic sites because the porn sites on internet is in line with 2008 anti pornography act law by the country. It was stated by Tifatul that if the Canadian company RIM still keeps providing the porn content through its services then it will considered as the violation of law and thus the services of Blackberry will be banned.

India Industry Forum Offered by RIM to settle the dispute

In order to solve the security issues in India, the Blackberry makers, Research In Motion has recently stated that they are ready to set up an industry forum in India. RIM has been given a deadline of 31st August for providing the access to the encrypted corporate mails and messaging services to the security agencies of India, failing to which the services of Blackberry will be banned in India.

In the response to the warning given by the Indian Home Ministry, RIM has made an offer for providing an industry forum to the government which will help to resolve the issue. RIM stated that the offer will focus on providing the support to the lawful access needs of the law enforcement agencies and at the same time maintaining the needs of information security of corporations as well as other organisations in India.

The final decision on Blackberry will arrive in the meeting which will be held next Monday which is the day before the deadline of 31st August.

Final Decision on Blackberry to Arrive by 30th August

The Blackberry makers, Research In Motion has been given a deadline of 31st August, 2010 to consider the security concerns of the Indian Government.  It is expected that the final decision on Blackberry issue as to whether some of the services will be blocked or not will come on 30th of August.

In order to find a solution for the issue, technical meeting will be held with Blackberry makers, Research in Motion by the Indian security and telecom agencies on Thursday and Friday (26th and 27th of August).

The RIM has been given the deadline of 31st August by the Indian Government so as to provide the access to the details of the corporate emails and the messaging services to the security agencies of the country failing to which these services of the Blackberry will be banned in India.

There are large number of Blackberry users in India who uses these services and they all are waiting for the final decision of the government.

Government Asks RIM to Install Server or Close its Messenger Services

The Government of India has made its stand tough on the issue of Blackberry and has asked Research in Motion to install its servers In India or shut down its messenger services.  The Indian government has asked the makers of Blackberry to install their servers in India so that their security agencies can keep a track about the messenger and enterprise mail services provided by Blackberry.

The RIM has made an offer to India where it stated that it will provide the data from its server that is based in Canada but according to India this could prove to be harmful for the security of the nation.

The officials of the Blackberry makers were ready to initially provide the data manually and then later on through cloud computing environment method but this offer was rejected by the government of India. Now the Home Ministry of India has again asked the Telecom Ministry that if RIM does not come out with any solution to Bes, they will have to stop their services immediately.
