Apple’s iPhone touchscreen is superior – Confirmed by Robotic Test

March 25, 2010

Human test has already been conducted in order to prove that touchscreen of Apple iPhone is the best and the most accurate touch panel in the market and in order to make results more prominent a new robotic test is done for the same.

MOTO Labs has conducted a test where it compared the iPhone with other touchscreen smartphones with the help of using SimpleDraw Applications. Other smartphones included in this test were Motorola Droid, Google Nexus, HTC Droid Eris, BlackBerry Storm 2 and Palm Pre.

This latest test was performed with 7mm robotic finger for the medium touch as well as 4mm robotic finger in order to represent very light touch. In both these tests it was found that Apple iPhone had accurate and straight lines and had some weaknesses with the light touch at the edge of the panel.

It was also noted by MOTO that touch panel all alone cannot lead to a good phone but its well performance with the OS of the phone is also necessary in order to ensure responsiveness for the users. Thus it can be said that Apple has taken due care with its hardware UI interface which all others haven’t.

Multitask with iPhone 4.0 OS

March 16, 2010

Apple has worked hard to eliminate some of the shortcomings of multitasking with the release of the 4.0 OS. News about Apple successfully developing technology to allow for simultaneous running third party applications has hit the market. A Cupertino based firm is developing a method to multitask security, memory and battery functions, lifted from Mac OS X operating system. iPhone 4.0 OS is still a long way to go before being released.

Need for iPhone 4.0 OS was to counter current OS that prevents third party apps from running in the background, avoiding multitasking i.e. only the software that were bundled with device were allowed to run and also iPhone OS’ security model is designed to close-open programs whenever the user returns to the home screen or answers a phone call.

This prevents malware, spyware or viruses from running without the user knowing about it. iPhone’s new OS is supposed to break away from conventional OS’ in the past who have failed to do what 4.0 aims to do.
