HTC rolled out Gingerbread update

If you are an owner of a smartphone, then you would come to know why an update is so important. It makes your device works faster and improves its performance in a much better way.

HTC had always kept it open (till June) that one of its most desired handsets, Desire is not going to receive any Android Gingerbread update. This was a disappointing piece of info that they had put up in their Facebook page. Well, it’s no longer a matter of disappointment as the handset maker had finally released Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for Desire handsets.

Previously the upgrade was denied because HTC devices were witnessing memory problems (as per the engineers of HTC). However, it had 512MB ROM and 576MB RAM which was more than enough for the upgrade.

Users will need to download this update manually into the Desire. Then shift it to the memory card to install it. Well, it sounds easy but is a bit tiring!

Time for BSNL to hike rates

August 3, 2011

Another telecom service provider has given us a little heartache with its hike in tariff rate. The latest company to join this tariff hike bandwagon is none other than BSNL. Well, we did not expect this from a govt. based operator (is any body listening?!).

But there is little twist in the tale, they have maintained a little bit of decency and took the indirect route. They have decreased the number of validity days instead of hiking the rates directly. However, they have increased the cost of some STV. Whatever it is- our pocket is the only sufferer!!

It’s not over yet- they have also announced a hike in their prepaid per second plan- 1.2p/sec will be charged for calls to all other networks. For the lifetime prepaid users- the charges will be 49p/min. These will be effective from coming 5th August 2011. Till then, enjoy the last few days of current tariff plans!
