Apple does not agree to include iPhone in the O2s green ranking scheme

It has been recently reported that Apple has refused to include its iPhone in the first green ranking scheme for the handsets conducted by UK. This scheme will provide a ranking from 0 to 5 to the mobile phones and this ranking will be based on the environmental credentials of the handsets.

Other major mobile manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson has got ready to participate in the scheme and get a ranking for their handsets. The spokesperson of Apple did not commented anything as to why they have not agreed to participate in this voluntary labelling scheme.

This latest green scheme has been launched in partnership with the Forum for the Future. Various factors will be considered while accessing the handsets and these will include environmental aspect of the raw material, packaging, manufacturing processes, ease to recycles and energy efficiency.

China will have iPhone4 next month

There is a good news for the people in China who wish to get an iPhone4 as China Unicom has made an announcement that the phone will be launched in the country on 16th of September this year.

All those customers who wish to get an iPhone 4 in China will have to make an online order of the phone in advance with China Unicom.

China Unicom , the second largest Chinese carrier is also the exclusive provider of the Apple iPhone’s in the country of China and the company has also launched the iPhone 3GS, 8GB version on 9th of August, this year.

The issue of reception which is faced by the owners of the iPhone 4 will remain the same with the Chinese version of the handset but in order to meet up with this situation, China Unicom will provide complimentary cases to all the buyers of iPhone 4 so that there is no inconvenience to them.

iPhones with Wi-Fi launched by China Unicom

It has been recently reported that China Unicom will be launching iPhone with Wi-Fi capabilities. Earlier, the company has only rolled out the iPhone without Wi-Fi because they wanted to promote Wapi, which is their homegrown technology.

Earlier the government had made a decision which stated that all the mobile phones which will be used in China will have Wapi technology instead of Wi-Fi. But this decision of government received an outcry from the IT world and their aim to get Wapi recognized as international standard failed.

Later on the rules were relaxed and it was stated by the government that devices with Wi-Fi are allowed to be used but they imposed a condition that they must also offer the Wapi technology.

The iPhones in China are being offered by Unicom since October, 2009 but the sales were very low because the customers preferred the import of the device which proved to be cheaper for them and also came with Wi-Fi facility. But now, Unicom is all set to offer iPhone with Wi-Fi in China from 9th of August, this year.

Free Case program for iPhone 4 started by Apple

Few days ago the CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs had made a promise that the company will provide free case to all the iPhone 4 users and now keeping up with his words, Apple has begun the free case program for the handset.

In order to make a claim for the free case of iPhone 4, the customer will have to download an application that will enable them to place the order for the same. The choice will also be given to the customers to select the cases from Belkin, Incase, Speck and Bumper. Once the 0.8 MB of application is downloaded and installed the customer will have to enter their iTunes or Apple ID password to make a choice for the case that they want. The shipment of the case will take a time period of around 3 to 5 weeks.

In order to qualify for the program the customers must purchase their handset before 30th of September this year.

Apple iPhone4 may be launched in India by Bharti Airtel by October this year

For all those people who are eagerly waiting for the much hyped Apple iPhone 4, there seems to be a good news from Bharti Airtel as Sanjay Kapoor, the CEO of Bharti at the recent CII industry conference stated that “ We are working with Apple…hopefully in the September-October time frame we would launch the phone”

Though much details regarding the talks is not disclosed by Airtel but the company is stating that they will make the iPhone 4 available in the Indian markets by September and October this year.

Earlier, Vodafone has also made an announcement that they will bring in the iPhone 4 in the country but they did not mentioned any time frame for the launch.

While talking about the 3G, Kapoor stated that huge network of the 3G is ready and the company is working on aggressive timeline. On BWA services he stated that “BWA has certain choices and we are looking at options and hopefully in few weeks we will be able to finalise that.”

Apple iOS 4 update will be available from today

For all those people who were eagerly waiting for the iOS 4.0 the time has come. The much awaited iOS 4 will be available for download from today onwards. The latest iOS 4 can be downloaded through iTunes by the users of iPad, iPod Touch and the iPhone. One should make sure that they have the latest iTunes 9.2 for Mac and Windows installed to get the new update iOS 4 for their device. Fixed time has not been given by Apple so as to seed the update but one will surely need to have a good internet connection for the same.

The latest iOS 4.0 will come with variety of impressive features like multitasking, unified inbox, folders, iBooks for iPod and iPhone, gift apps, spell checking, faces and places, support for keyboard through Bluetooth and others.

The latest update of iOS 4 will be available for free and the some of the features will be missing for the first generation and iPod touch users. The multitasking feature will not be available for iPhone 3G and second generation iPod Touch.

Apple tights the grip on its mobile advertising

Apple has recently released new developer terms for its iPhone and iPad applications developers, which will ban the use of cross platform compiling tools that will effectively stop the applications running on the multiple platforms and blocking the AdMob mobile advertising platform

This move has attracted the suspicion of the FTC not only because Apple is due to launch its own iAds mobile advertising platform on 1st July but also because US watchdog has recently greenlighted the Google’s acquisition of AdMob.

Thus US watchdog, the Federal Trade Commission is launching an official probe into the practice of Apple regarding the advertising on iPhone so as to establish that the company is not exploiting its power unfairly.

The Apple iPhone application developer suggested that the real motivation of Apple for banning the AdMob as an advertising platform is because all the data about how the Apple iPhone is used and by whom is going to Google which will push a rival mobile platform in the shape of Android.

Apple iPhone 4 reaches Best Buy for pre orders

The news of Apple iPhone 4 being sold out by AT&T has gushed the mobile world but all those people who wish to lay their hands on this latest device can now pre order the handset through Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile Stores.

The president of Best Buy Mobile, Shawn Score stated that offering the iPhone 4 to the consumers shows the latest example of how the company has become a place to go for the smartphones. He explained that it was an opportunity for Best Buy to launch this iconic device with pre sale. Score also stated that “Adding the iPhone 4 to our stores alongside other great smartphones like the HTC EVO from Sprint and HTC Incredible on Verizon, gives customers a great opportunity to view each side-by-side and get the mobile phone that works best for them.”

The Apple iPhone 4 is expected to be available through Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile Stores from 24th of June this year. The mail in rebates may be avoided if the user will purchase the handset from Best Buy. Moreover the store also promises that users will get access to various additional accomplishments on purchase of the handset.

Price of Apple iPhone4g in India

Vodafone will be launching Apple iPhone 4 in India by September this year and it is also expected that Vodafone will also announce various offers so as to promote the sale of iPhone 4.

The latest Apple iPhone comes loaded with variety if impressive features which include 5MP camera with LED flash and facility to record H video, Apple A4 processor, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, three axis gyroscope, 40% more talk time and others. The design of the handset is renovated completely and its body is made up of thin steel parts and glass.

Vodafone has made an announcement that they will launch the latest Apple iPhone 4 in India in the coming months but there is no mentioning of the time period. The price of apple iPhone in India may vary from Rs.35,000 to  Rs.45,000.

Other features of this handset include 3.5 inches of touchscreen display with resolution count of 960 X 640 pixels, music player, video player and Bluetooth.

Skype enhances its version of iPhone application

Skype, the VOIP service provider has launched its new version of iPhone application. This latest version will enable the users of iPhone to receive and make Skype to Skype calls and also to call on the landlines and mobile pones all across the globe over their 3G data connection.

The new iPhone application of Skype will include the near CD quality sound for Skype to Skype calls using the wideband audio on iPhone 3GS or the iPod touch of second generations and onwards.

The latest version of Skype will be compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and the iPod second generation onwards. Currently the Skype application for iPhone can be downloaded for free from the App store on iPod and iPhone. The skype to Skype calls on 3G will be available for free for a trial period which will run till the end of this year. The Skype to Skype calls over Wi-Fi will remain free whereas details of the pricing for the others will be announced in the coming months.
