Along with other services, a few months back, Idea launched its very own app store or the Idea Mall which has been introduced for over 90 million subscribers across India. The app store is actually based on Ericsson’s eStore solution and is currently offering over 26,000 applications, mainly Java apps.
Idea had earlier teamed up with Spice Digital to launch an app store called the MobStore, which was a mixture between providing apps and services.
Idea Mall now has over 50,000 games and apps to choose from with many of the applications being free for the users. Idea has also introduced an app trial system, which means the user is allowed to test a particular app before downloading it, paying an amount as less as Rs.2.
The pricing system of Idea Mall is also quite flexible as it allows the users to choose from apps priced as low as Rs.2 for a day to Rs.199 for a plan called ‘forever purchase’ which is suitable for users enthusiastic about gaming.
