Use your mobile phone to check in and unlock your hotel rooms
May 26, 2010
An interesting new technology has been developed which will allow the travelers to by pass the check in desks and use their mobile phones to unlock the hotel rooms themselves.
This mobile check in process is already being used in Australia by various airlines like Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue which enables the guests to skip the front counter and then open the door of the hotel themselves.
It has been announced by InterContinental Hotel Groups (IHG) that they will start the testing of this new technology at two of the US Holidays Inns from next month.
All those who wish to participate in this trail will have to download an application to their mobile phones, call the confirmation email on their phone and then hold it up to a sensor on the door in order to unlock it. This technology works by sending the encrypted and unique audio code to the phones of the guest.
