How does mobile phone tracking works

March 4, 2010

Mobile Phone tracking is done in order to track the current position of the phone even when it is on the move. Though an active call is not required to track the handset but the phone must be switched on for finding the proper location of the phone. The GSM localization is performed by multilateration that is based on the strength of the signal to nearby antenna masts.

The present day handsets are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) that helps to identify the location of the phone and provides accurate results. GPS uses the triangulation concept to calculate the location of the phone and satellites are used as landmarks in it.

The tracking system of A GPS can be used to have real time as well as historical navigation as it uses GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) network that incorporates the range of satellites and uses the microwave signals. Mobile phone tracking plays an important role in various situations and especially in the conditions when your mobile phone is lost or stolen.

Since delicate privacy problems are associated with mobile phone tracking thus proper principles and security procedures must be adhered to while going through the process of cell phone tracking.
