Universal Mobile-phone Charger Expected to Hit Market Soon

December 31, 2010

Do you keep on asking everyone at office for a mobile-phone charger
that will fit your handset for charging your mobile? Then there is no
need for you to worry at all as the European Union has plans to
introduce a global common mobile-phone charger soon. Harmonized
standards for a common charger have been recently released by the
European Standardization bodies.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the
European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) have
released the standards for interoperability which are required for
producing data-enabled mobile phones which will be compatible with a
new common charger. The compatibility will be based on Micro-USB
connectors. Electro-magnetic emissions as well as safety risks have
been taken into consideration by the new standards and it has also
been ensured that common chargers have adequate immunity to any type
of external interference.

According to the European Commission, the first common chargers as
well as mobile phones compatible with the new standards are expected
to hit the market in early 2011.

Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone Likely to Hit Market Soon

As stated by Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese website, the Sony Ericsson
PlayStation phone is expected to hit the markets of North America and
Europe by April 2011. The device may be called as Xperia Play or Zeus
Z1. The questions pertaining to the games that can be downloaded or
how many models will support the platform are yet to be clarified.

The popularity of Android as a platform is gaining significant
momentum and the launch of this PlayStation phone may further boost
its popularity. The device is expected to have standard PSP buttons, a
larger touch pad and a large display. As far as the software of this
phone is concerned, it is expected to run Android Gingerbread,
customized particularly for Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone.

The launch of Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone is a win-win partnership
for Sony Ericsson as well as Google since Sony will be able to launch
the PlayStation phone on one hand and Google’s Android platform will
get the required boost in the mobile entertainment segment on the
other.

Maxx MQ515 Review

Maxx has been one mobile brand that has been seen as one of the upcoming company mainly in the field of budget handsets. The idea of budget handsets with Maxx is a little different and Maxx MQ515 is one such example that comes with a full QWERTY at quite an affordable price.

This candy bar mobile handset is a dual GSM SIM phone which also provides dual stand by option. The TFT display screen is a pretty big one when compared with QWERTY phones like Fly B430. Even the resolution count provided by the screen is better than that of a lot of mobile phones which come at almost the same price. The 950mAh battery might not be that great but still performs good considering the affordable price it is available for. Other features included in the handset are FM radio, Bluetooth, camera, music player and recording feature. One of the good points about MQ515 is the fact that it has quite a convenient keypad which enables fast messaging facility.

The digital camera provided with this handset is nothing worth even mentioning. It manages really hazy images without any sharpness of the colors. Infact any Nokia xpress music phone like 5233 would do a much better job when it comes to clicking pictures. There is no internet connectivity options provided since there is no GPRS, no EDGE and not even a WAP browser. The only way you can connect this phone is through the USB port apart from the usual Bluetooth. The music player is again not a feature which one can boast about. Thus Maxx MQ515 isn’t a phone which will impress you but yes, it is better than a few handsets at this price.

Maxx MS830 Review

For all those who thought that Maxx could not produce nice looking handsets, MS830 is the answer. This dual SIM touch screen handset is one which takes you be surprise because it is different from any handset that you have seen from Maxx so far. The network the SIMs supports is GSM.

The display screen is quite large and is made in such a way that the touch feature enables really smooth and convenient handling. At this price, getting a screen with such a resolution is quite difficult. Take for example Nokia 5250 even on being a phone from a great brand, fails to give a resolution better than that of MS830.The internet access is provided through GPRS and the WAP browser. Infact social networking sites like Facebook come inbuilt with this mobile phone which can be considered a plus point. Other features offered are Bluetooth, FM radio with recording feature, mini USB port and desktop widgets. Other than these, your entertainment quotient is taken care of by the music player and the camera. The fact that this phone is Java enabled makes it a good stop for gaming. Infact the touch screen is so good that one tends to enjoy the games.

A 2MP camera might not seem enough at this price because it is an era where cameras become the reason for the selling of a mobile phone. The resolution count of the camera isn’t too great either. The 910mAh battery provides a talk time of 4 hours and isn’t up to the mark.

Maxx MS830 makes for a good touch screen handset but a few negative points take the grace of the handset away. But overall it is a good buy.

Maxx MT 250 Review

Maxx MT250 is another touch screen mobile phone by the company and this is one handset that can be called ‘bold’. This is due to the looks with sharp shiny edges that this mobile phone flaunts. This dual SIM GSM handset is supported with some features which can attract users towards it.

Maxx MT250 consists of a large touch screen display which is even bigger than that of Samsung Corby Pro. The smoothness of the touch screen good enough to just let your fingers sway on the screen and get the desired results. The fact that this mobile phone supports Wireless LAN Wi-Fi makes it a good choice for internet browsing feature. Plus since social networking sites like Face book and Twitter come inbuilt with it, Maxx MT250 definitely proves to be a good networking phone. The 3.2 MP camera is a good specification of this handset as the resolution count of the images is extremely sharp and crisp. Like other Maxx mobiles, this phone too has the Java feature which can enable a lot of applications such as the various games. Other features are music player, video player, and Bluetooth and FM radio.

The 1000mAh battery seems fine but not at this price. It provides 5 hours worth talk time but some other handsets at the same price provide much better battery options. The music player quality is average as the speakers seem to be fitted at the wrong spots. One might also feel that the extra bold look of the phone seems a little out of shape. But overall Maxx MT250 looks like a good phone but could have been better.

Onida G505 Review

Onida G505 is one of the basic mobile phone by the company that comes with basic list of features. This is a dual SIM mobile handset which comes in the candy bar design and has quite a shiny and metallic exterior which makes it look rich.

Both the SIMs of G505 is GSM enabled. Infact this handset has the dual stand by feature as well. The 2 inch display screen might not seem too large but considering the cost of this handset, it makes sense having this size of a screen. The keypad is the regular alphanumeric one and has the kind of keys which makes texting easy and smooth. The microSD card slot allows the user to expand the external memory space up to 8GB since the internal memory space allotted is not sufficient. For internet access, GPRS and WAP browser are provided which is the highlight feature of Onida G505.The 1200mAh battery provides 7 hours of talk time hence placing this phone in the list of good battery mobile handsets.

The other features included are FM radio, Bluetooth, camera and music player. The extra points given are mobile tracker and torch light. The 0.3 MP camera is a feature in the handset which was better if it was absent. Since the low resolution does nothing in raising the standard of the camera, therefore it becomes one of the dullest feature of this mobile phone. Onida G505 is a regular mobile phone with regular features and except for the internet connectivity, there is nothing very special about it.

Onida G515 Review

Onida G515 is a handset produced by Onida that come with a dual SIM feature and non touch screen display. This simple looking mobile phone has the traditional alphanumeric keypad and come only in a single black colour.

The 2inch of TFT display screen is one which is supported by an ordinary resolution count of the content and is better than that of Nokia 2323.This phone, like other Onida handsets comes with the dual stand by feature which has been one of the necessary feature in dual SIM handsets these days. Onida has always strived hard to give its users with a good battery in all their mobile phones. This phone too has a 1200mAh battery which can be considered to be superior to that of Samsung Corby, which is tagged at a much heavy price. From the connectivity point of view, GPRS/WAP makes this phone a good internet enabled phone. Bluetooth and USB port complete the connectivity package. Other features offered are music player, video player, and camera and FM radio.

The music player is one point where most brands producing budget handsets forget to put in a great effort. Onida G515’s music player too fails to deliver as expected and the sound quality is not crisp and sharp. The 0.3 MP camera is a redundant feature as it gives a low resolution count of the images clicked. Infact the video recording is quite useless as well. Onida G515 makes for a good phone at this price but nothing extra ordinary.
