The BlackBerry Partners Fund which makes investment in the applications for the BlackBerry and other mobile phone devices has come together with China Broadband Capital Partners so as to set up a US$100M fund which is called BlackBerry Partners Fund China which will invest in the mobile cloud technologies and mobile internet in China.

The BlackBerry Partners Fund is the venture capital arm of the Research In Motion which is the company that sells BlackBerry handsets. The China Broadband Capital Partners is a venture capital and private equity manager based in China which is focused on telecommunications, media and internet investments.

The corporate vice president and MD of RIM China, Gregory Shea stated that this is the right time for investing in the mobile internet technology and mobile cloud and the funds will be aimed to tap the increasing sophistication of the network and the development of the 3G in most populous country of the world.

One of the leading Indian mobile phone company, Micromax has recently launched their handsets in Sri Lanka. The Business Director of Micromax Informatics Limited, Vikas Jain, stated that the mobile phone market of Sri Lanka has huge growth potential and an immense untapped telecom consumer segments and thus Micromax looks forward in order to penetrate the market of the country. Micromax Models

Microsoft through its presentation at ReMIX in France revealed that it has many aggressive goals for its Windows Phone 7. The company also endorsed an IDC data which showed that the shipping of the WP7 smartphones by the end of the year 2011 will be total of 30 million. The majority of the increase will be helped by the rise in the smartphones which will account for 40% of the sales in the year 2011 as compared to 14% sales this year.

The estimate which is seen by MTW which is not directly controlled by Microsoft will mark a distinct reversal in the current pattern of the Windows Mobile. Only 3.7 million Windows Mobile phones shipped during the winter and it could cause the IDC number of the Microsoft to be less than half. Sales can also be lower as the customers may wait for the new OS and may look out for other alternatives like iPhone or Android.

The 2 Senators of US, citing the Times Square bombing suspect who used prepaid mobile phone have proposed a legislation which would end the anonymous use of the prepaid services. As per the proposal of the senators, all the applicants for prepaid phones will have to produce their identification while signing up for the mobile services.

This legislation is sponsored by Senators John Cornyn and Charles E.Schumer and it states that the carriers will be needed to keep the data on the prepaid accounts for 18 months.

The privacy advocates and the civil liberties has however, expressed their reservation on the proposal of the senators as they want to make sure that there are anonymous communications for the whistleblowers and the others who need to report crimes without having any fear of retaliation. James Dempsey, the policy director for the Centre for Democracy and Technology stated that everyone in a free society will want to have ability to communicate without having a full digital paper trail.

The head of USA T-Mobile has recently announced his resignation and has decided to step down after 15 years of his carrier. The chief executive officer and president, Robert Dotson in order to provide smooth transition for his successor will stick till May 2011 and thus will leave within 12 months of time. The replacement for Robert Dotson will be Philipp Humm who is the T-Mobile’s current regional officer for Europe and the former CEO of the domestic operation in Germany. Philipp Humm will officially take over as the T- Mobile’s CEO in February 2011.

Dotson stated that “It has long been my intent to step away from the business at this stage in my life in order to devote more time to family and to take on entirely new and unique challenges. That change can only be made possible if a suitable successor is in place.”

The T-Mobile of USA since a long time have been the powerhouse for the mobile operations of  Deutsche Telekom’s and in terms of revenue generations it just sits behind Germany.
